Psychometry

This is the ability of a psychic to perceive information about a person they don't know or haven't seen before just by touching or holding an item belonging to that person. The concept is based on the assumption that objects hold a memory or intelligent energy. When a psychic comes in contact with the energy of the object they can see mental pictures, movies, or events that happened to the person who owned the object. They may also be able to pick up the dominant mood of object's owner.

By coming in contact with a personal object or even a photo of the person, a psychic can give you information about that person. When a picture of a person is given to a psychic they do not need to see the picture to get messages. Although the psychic will not likely understand why they're seeing what they're seeing, the information they get can be extremely accurate. Someone who knows the person would easily be able to confirm the accuracy of the psychic's perceptions.

The terminology for this psychic power is also referred to as token-object reading.
