Write down your dreams in detail as soon as you get up, even if it's in the middle of the night. If you wait, you'll forget important details.
-
Focus on each element of your dream one at a time. Focus on people, animals, places, things, feelings (were you scared, happy, sad, indifferent, ...) , focus on thoughts you had during the dream, ...
-
At the top of the page write down one element of your dream. Under that right down what the element means to you only. Don't ask your friends or relatives. Only your perceptions are relevant. Dream dictionaries are also useless for this task. Your dreams are uniquely yours and the movies created by your mind are pictures of what you can easily understand. The same dream experienced by another person could have an entirely different meaning!
-
Now rewrite you dream. It's time to put all the elements in your dream together. This time analyze your dream using the new words you've written down. What do these elements mean to you? What do the elements remind you of? How does each element make you feel? Most of the time the meaning of your dream will be immediately apparent. If not, you'll usually get your answer in a day or two. Or you get other dreams that convey the same message. If this happens you may notice a pattern to all your dreams. Even though they appear to be very different, they might mean exactly the same thing.
-
Keep a dream journal. In your journal write down what happened to you the previous day. Write down your dreams. Keep track of all 'elements' in your dreams and write down what they mean to you. You will soon see what your dreams are trying to tell you. Learn more
